S.I.T.

Challenge:
How can VIA Design University stimulate learning within sustainability and the generation of sustainable innovative concepts amongst their students?

Global Context:
Educational institutions address the formative years of our future designers, engineers, architects, urban developers and all other agents of change. It is a critical period where students are receptive, free to experiment and develop the foundation for how they will think, work and the principles that will guide them in their life journey. Moreover, it is much easier and cheaper for our society to address sustainability within the formative years of future professionals than to hope they will be trained or reeducated while they have already started working. Therefore, universities are becoming more and more aware that they need to equip their students with the right tools, principles and knowledge in order for them to succeed in creating a better more sustainable future for all.
